Answers to a few Frequent Questions
Q. What is AABPI's history?
A. AABPI was formed in 1952 after World War II when many veterans moved from Military Police positions into private security work. In 1972, AABPI delegated school validation to ETI and their network of training facilities worldwide, headquartered in Eilat, Israel at the time. With the PSU joint venture at the dawn of the internet in 1985, 130 other schools were accepted into the network. From the initial role of certifying and identifying professional bodyguards and security personnel, AABPI has now expanded and specialized in validating and supporting Professional Security and Bodyguard Instructors as well.
Q. What do I need to do to join?
A. You need to either be a graduate of a network training school (your school will refer you here), or a current or retired bodyguard or protection instructor with valid ID.
Q. I need protection. Will you refer me to a qualified bodyguard?
A. If you email us your zip code or country code, we will send your contact info to three members in your area, with proper ID on your part, and with the permission of our members. Not all areas will receive a response, as most of our members are very busy. ANY bodyguard, security consultant or protection instructor with validated AABPI ID will be an excellent choice for you, since only grads of the highest quality, professional schools and programs are accepted for membership. Most of our members have extensive experience in military, private, secret service, police and other protection details. Q. Where can I find a good Protection school or program?
A. Due to our joint venture with ETI/PSU, you can visit their site, or you can email us for a list of approved schools in your area, both in and outside of the PSU network of training institutes. For example, Gunsite is approved but not in the network, Insight is approved and in the network.
